We offer three sub-internships to medical students which can be used to satisfy elective course requirements. Interested students should contact

Important Information

The site coordinator must receive and approve the required forms by noon, four weeks prior to the start of the rotation. Rotations will be cancelled if this is not done. Please complete the required forms.

Students from affiliated schools (CCOM, RFU, UIC) need to complete:

  • Medical Student Information Form
  • Electronic Medical Record Access Form

Students from non-affiliated schools must complete:

  • Medical Student Information Form
  • Medical Immunization Form
  • TB Questionnaire Form
  • Electronic Medical Record Access Form
  • Copy of ACLS and BLS certification card
  • Academic status documentation
  • Malpractice Liability Insurance coverage document
  • Proof of flu vaccination for rotations occurring between October and April

Students from non-affiliated schools should also have their school send the site coordinator an authorization or approval letter for the completion of an outside elective.

family medicine – Inpatient elective

Enrollment for this elective opens March 1. All medical students interested in doing the Family Medicine Elective rotation must contact the site coordinator for availability. This elective is a four-week inpatient rotation offered only to MS4. This elective is offered to medical students from affiliated and non-affiliated medical schools. Student must be from an LCME- or AOA-accredited medical school.

Orientation and systems training will be done by the Family Medicine senior resident.

Reporting Time: 7am. The site coordinator will email “Reporting Instructions” to students one week prior to the start of the rotation

family medicine – Outpatient elective

Family Medicine Clerkship is a six- or eight-week outpatient rotation offered to students of affiliated schools only: the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) and Rosalind Franklin University Chicago Medical School (RFU/CMS).

Coordinator will orientate students to the clerkship.

Primary care sports medicine elective

Enrollment for this elective opens March 1. Students will be required to go to different sites for this elective. All students interested in doing the Sports Medicine Elective rotation must contact the site coordinator for availability. This elective is a four-week rotation offered only to MS4 from affiliated and non-affiliated medical schools. Student must be from an LCME- or AOA-accredited medical school.

Coordinator will orientate student to the clerkship.
